We recognize that life circumstances can change unexpectedly, and needing to rehome an animal does not reflect failure. Our focus is always on finding the safest possible outcome for every animal involved.

When to Surrender an Animal

Surrender may be necessary in situations such as:

• Financial hardship or inability to provide care

• Housing restrictions or relocation

• Medical or personal emergencies

• Behavioural concerns beyond current management ability

• Safety concerns within the household

• Lack of resources, time, or proper care setup

• Emergency or crisis situations

Each request is reviewed individually based on the animal’s needs and available placement options.

Our Intake Process

When a surrender request is submitted, our team reviews all information provided to understand the animal’s background, health, behaviour, and current situation.

Depending on circumstances and availability, the process may include:

• Intake assessment

• Review of medical or behavioural history

• Temporary placement planning if needed

• Coordination of transport or drop-off

• Communication regarding next steps

Submitting a surrender request does not guarantee immediate intake, as placement depends on capacity and resources.
