Foster homes play a critical role in helping animals transition from rescue situations into safe, stable, and supportive environments. By fostering, you provide temporary care while animals wait for permanent adoption placement.

Fostering allows animals to receive individualized attention, socialization, recovery support, and a calmer environment outside of emergency or intake situations.

Second Chance Sanctuary accepts foster applications for a wide variety of animals, including:

• Dogs

• Cats

• Small animals

• Reptiles

• Farm animals

• Equine animals

Placement decisions are based on experience level, available space, household setup, and the specific needs of each animal.

What Foster Homes Provide

Foster homes are responsible for providing daily care, supervision, and a safe environment for the animal during their placement. Depending on the animal, fostering may involve:

• Feeding and routine care

• Exercise and enrichment

• Socialization and handling

• Monitoring behaviour or medical needs

• Providing structure and stability

The length of foster placements may vary depending on the animal’s needs and adoption timeline.

Support Provided by Second Chance Sanctuary

Second Chance Sanctuary provides foster supplies directly through the organization whenever possible. This may include:

• Food

• Bowls

• Leashes and harnesses

• Bedding

• Crates

• Toys and treats

• Litter and basic care supplies

Our team also provides ongoing communication, guidance, and support throughout the foster placement process.
