This page is a little walk down memory lane.

Here you’ll find animals who were once part of our care, whether they stayed with us temporarily, were fostered, rehabilitated, or went on to their next chapter. Every animal on this page played a role in our story, and we’re so grateful we got to be part of theirs.

Some found forever homes, some moved on to other safe and loving placements, and some simply stayed with us for a moment when they needed it most. No matter how long they were here, each one was loved, respected, and cared for like family.

This page exists to celebrate them. Their personalities, their progress, and the time we shared. Once part of Second Chance Sanctuary, always part of our hearts.

Cookie & Butter

Guinea Pigs | Sisters

Cookie (white and tan) and Butter (fully tan) were a sweet sister duo who spent about two months with us. When they first arrived, they were very shy and skittish, always sticking close to each other for comfort. Wherever one went, the other followed. Truly inseparable.

With time, patience, and lots of gentle care, they slowly began to open up. They became more comfortable around the people who spent the most time with them, showing their curious and calm personalities once they felt safe.

After their time with us, Cookie and Butter were adopted together into a loving home, just as sisters should be. We’re so proud of how far they came and so happy they got their next chapter side by side.

Bert & Ernie

Bunny Brothers | Unknown Breed

Bert (sitting up in photos, tiny but fierce) and Ernie (kneeling and munching on grass) were our clever little escape artists. These black bunnies with grey hairs were with us for about two months and kept us on our toes. No enclosure could hold them and we often found them exploring the sanctuary at 6:00 a.m., fully in charge of their morning mischief.

Full of energy, they loved to hop and run around together. Bert was the bold little rascal while Ernie was a bit shy at first. Beware their bites though, they really meant business if you got too close.

After their time with us, Bert and Ernie were transferred to another shelter to continue their care before finding a loving home together. We are so happy they are finally enjoying their next chapter side by side.

Pumpkin

Cat | Pumpkin

Pumpkin is a 6-year-old male cat who spent a short but very memorable time with us — just one cozy night before heading off to his new home. Even in that little bit of time, his gentle and affectionate personality completely shined through.

From the moment he arrived, Pumpkin proved himself to be incredibly sweet and unbelievably cuddly. He loved being close to people, happily settling in for pets and quiet companionship as if he had known us forever. One of his most charming little quirks is his loud breathing, which honestly just made him even more endearing — a constant reminder that he was always nearby, relaxed and content.

Though his stay with us was brief, Pumpkin left a big impression on our hearts. He was recently adopted into a loving home where he can enjoy all the snuggles and comfort he deserves. We’re so happy he found his perfect match and can’t wait for him to live a life full of warmth, naps, and endless cuddles.
